The fake
encoder is an encoder model for testing code without any hardware.
Navigate to the CONFIGURE tab of your machine’s page in the Viam app.
Click the + icon next to your machine part in the left-hand menu and select Component.
Select the encoder
type, then select the fake
model.
Enter a name or use the suggested name for your encoder and click Create.

No attributes are available for fake
encoders.
Once your encoder is configured and your machine is connected, go to the CONTROL tab and click on the encoder’s dropdown panel. The ticks count is displayed.
